The Black Diamond Racing Puck provides unprecedented versatility. The Puck is a disc shaped piece (like an ice hockey puck!) with the same construction as the Shelf. It is approximately 70mm in diameter and is designed to be used with the Pyramid Cones in several ways:

The Mini Pit is designed to serve a variety of functions in one product, providing unprecedented versatility to the audiophile. The Mini Pit is a disc shaped piece approximately 47mm in diameter, and of the same construction as The Shelf. The Pit has dimple on one side for use as a Cone cup and threaded on the other side for screwing together with the Pyramid Cones.

DeoxIT ® Power Booster is a fast-acting deoxidizing solution that cleans, preserves, lubricates and improves conductivity on all metal connectors and contacts. Use as a general treatment for connectors, contacts and other metal surfaces, and on non-critical metal surfaces with severe oxidation and corrosion. If the metal surface is discolored, it is severe. DeoxIT ® dissolves the contamination and protects the surface. For reference, DeoxIT ® has approximately 20% cleaning action. This is a must have for cleaning all mains and signal connectors. Deoxit result in a noticable performance improvement.

The Black Diamond Racing Pyramid Cones Mk3 and Mk4 are the initial interface in a vibration control system. With a crush point of over 4,500 kg, the Pyramid Cones can be used virtually anywhere. The proper placement will significantly effect the performance of the cones so the rule of thumb is the tip of the cone towards the resonant surface. For example, under a CD transport sitting on an MDF shelf, the tips of the cones should be pointing down.

Chord generally favour a combination of silver-plated conductors and Teflon insulation, believing that this produces an extremely neutral tonal characteristic. The Codac Silver Plus however uses a low-density gas foamed polyethylene insulator in order to reduce the dielectric constant. This allows us to produce an extremely cost effective and accurate digital interconnect.

Optical digital standard, metal bodied, gold tipped toslink plugs and a wide domed and polished signal core end. In theory, all optical cables should produce pretty similar results. In practice, this is not the case. In comparisons with other optical cables the Optichord produces a more accurate tonal characteristic and a vibrant and lively sound from the system it is connected to.

Chord Odyssey speaker cable shares its principal design features with Chord Rumour. Like Rumour, each conductor is made up of 19 strands of silver-plated oxygen free copper surrounded by Teflon insulation. The major difference is the size of the conductors. Whereas Rumour uses 1.5mm diameter conductors, Odyssey uses a larger 2mm conductor diameter. The larger diameter conductors carry dynamic information extremely well and produce real improvements to the weight, attack and dynamic of bass, likewise mid and treble.

Factory Terminated 3m Pair – single to single wired. Rumour 2 is a twin conductor cable with an overall diameter of 6mm. Chord Rumour was the first speaker cable that Chord produced. At the time we were already producing interconnects using silver-plated conductors in combination with Teflon insulation and were well aware of the potential performance benefits of this combination. We experimented with several cable geometries before settling on the twisted pair configuration that we have used ever since. Following repeated listening tests, we felt this configuration offered some genuine advantages over the more commonly used heavy gauge parallel pair designs that were commonly used at the time.

Factory Terminated 3m Pair – single to single wired. Chord Carnival SilverScreen offers a set of performance characteristics that make it unique at its price point. The oxygen free copper multi stranded conductors used in Carnival SilverScreen have been borrowed from the Chord Carnival Classic. Likewise the low-density polyethylene insulation and twisted pair configuration. The conductors are surrounded by a soft PVC casing that provides excellent mechanical damping characteristics. This is surrounded by a heavily overlapped dual foil shielding system and this in turn is surrounded and protected by a translucent PVC outer jacket, again with excellent mechanical damping characteristics.

The electrical supply within our houses is becoming increasingly polluted. The typical household now has around 40 microprocessors and many of the electronic components we now use are fitted with switch mode power supplies. The Chord Co established some years ago that high frequency electrical interference was having a seriously detrimental effect on the performance of both hi-fi and home cinema systems and this discovery prompted the development of firstly the Signature interconnect and then the Signature speaker cable. The PowerChord will enhance the stereo image and improve the space around individual voices and instruments.

Epic Super Twin is primarily intended as a bi-wire cable, contains two sets of twisted conductors and has an overall diameter of 16mm. Epic Super Twin can also be used as a dual-conductor cable and used like this is particularly useful for connecting to speakers that demand a high current. The two negative conductors are simply joined together at both ends and likewise the positive. Wired like this, Epic Super Twin can really improve the dynamic performance of a demanding speaker.

Epic Twin is a dual conductor cable with an overall diameter of 11mm. Chord Epic speaker cable is the result of a successful marriage of two of Chord’s award winning speaker cables. The silver-plated oxygen free copper conductors, Teflon insulation and silicone surround are borrowed from Chord Odyssey speaker cable and the shielding system is taken from the Chord Signature speaker cable. The development and success of Signature speaker cable proved conclusively that shielding speaker cable could bring some serious improvements to sound quality.

Odyssey 4 is a bi-wire cable. The silicone outer jacket contains two sets of twisted pair conductors. The overall diameter is 13mm. Chord Odyssey speaker cable shares its principal design features with Chord Rumour. Like Rumour, each conductor is made up of 19 strands of silver-plated oxygen free copper surrounded by Teflon insulation. The major difference is the size of the conductors. Whereas Rumour uses 1.5mm diameter conductors, Odyssey uses a larger 2mm conductor diameter. The larger diameter conductors carry dynamic information extremely well and produce real improvements to the weight, attack and dynamic of bass, likewise mid and treble.

We experimented with several cable geometries before settling on the twisted pair configuration that we have used ever since. Rumour 2 is a twin conductor cable with an overall diameter of 6mm. Chord Rumour was the first speaker cable that Chord produced. At the time we were already producing interconnects using silver-plated conductors in combination with Teflon insulation and were well aware of the potential performance benefits of this combination. We experimented with several cable geometries before settling on the twisted pair configuration that we have used ever since. Following repeated listening tests, we felt this configuration offered some genuine advantages over the more commonly used heavy gauge parallel pair designs that were commonly used at the time.

The Chord iCHORD was developed in response to demand for a high quality interconnect to allow hi-fi enthusiasts to connect their portable players to their main systems. The twin internal conductors and the coaxial configuration are unique to the iCHORD cable and will carry WAV and MP3 signals equally well. Like the Signature Plus the most striking feature of the Chord Indigo Plus is the beautiful acrylic plug casing. Each one is hand machined to an exacting tolerance and polished to a mirror finish. Acrylic was chosen for its ability to control resonances around the RCA/phono plug contact areas and in comparisons with conventional RCA/phono plugs, the combination of low mass contact area and the resonance damping acrylic plug casing produced a markedly cleaner and more detailed sound. The Chord Signature Plus represents a real step forward in the world of interconnect cables. The original Chord Anthem was one of the first available interconnects to use a high frequency shield. It was also the first Chord interconnect to be fitted with the ultra low mass RCA/phono plug still used on the Anthem, Signature and Indigo interconnects. The silver-plated combined shielding system fitted to the Anthem 2 protects a Teflon insulated multi strand silver-plated signal conductor. This configuration extends the bandwidth that the Anthem 2 will carry, and whilst the benefits of this are clearly audible throughout the frequency range, anyone fitting the Anthem 2 to a system with speakers capable of serious bass extension will be able to feel as well as hear the benefits! The Chorus 2 benefits from the combined shielding system first developed for the Chord Signature and the Chord Indigo interconnect cables. The shielding system is used to protect the Teflon insulated, solid core silver-plated signal conductor. The signal return path is carried externally ensuring that the central signal conductor is completely isolated. The combination of the silver-plated conductor and Teflon insulation enables the Chorus 2 to accurately carry a wide bandwidth signal. Extra $400 per metre of cable.

The Chameleon Silver Plus is the first interconnect in the range to use silver-plated conductors in combination with Teflon insulation. This is a combination of materials that the Chord Company use extensively and the improvements they bring to dynamic, detail and tonal transmission are very obvious. Correctly used, silver-plated conductors can help to bring real definition to the often complex information that makes up the harmonic signature of a musical instrument. Cobra has been part of the Chord range for almost as long as the Chrysalis and is another good example of how a cable design evolves. The original Cobra was a co-axial design; Cobra 3 uses a pseudo-balanced conductor configuration along with vibration controlling conductor spacers. The conductors are twisted along the length of the cable and insulated with low density polyethylene. The braided shield surrounds both conductors and spacers and is mechanically and electrically isolated from the signal path. Extra $55 per metre of cable.

This gauge is identical (non branded) to the Well Tempered labs gauge which retails for $299.00. It comes with a calibration weight and a funky little case. We tested several Linn Arms which had been correctly set up to track at 1.75 grams only to find this gauge revealed they were tracking up to .6 grams out. This reduces the performance and longevity of any cartridge significantly. The Rega RB-300 arm we tested produced a reading that was even further out. (reading 1.5g actual 1.9). This is huge!!

Dialing in your correct tracking force is absolutely essential for optimal record playback. If you miss on the heavy side, your sound becomes thick and sluggish. Miss on the light side, and your cartridge is more likely to mistrack and the sound will be light and anemic. This gauge will accurately read your tracking force within .001 grams. So stop messing with those mechanical stylus balances that aren’t even accurate. This is one case where digital makes more sense when it comes to fine-tuning your analog.

The Chord Crimson replaces The Chord Company’s first ever interconnect cable, the Chord Chrysalis. Although a completely new design the Crimson is a good example of the way a product evolves. The oxygen free, multi-stranded copper conductors are identical in strand diameter to the conductors used in the Chrysalis, but whilst the Chrysalis used a co-axial configuration the Crimson, like other interconnects in the Chord Range uses a pseudo-balanced circuit path.
